Hello everyone. I have been reading your helpful information on Downey Dunks. I have never tried this before. We recently purchased our first used doll (Addy) from ebay. She is very nice except for her hair, it is very tangled. However, the more we comb the worse it becomes. I am afraid we will pull her hair out trying to comb it! Will the Downey Dunk help her? Do I steam her also? Thanks for helping!

My Shantelle used to be Addy until I gave up on her hair. I did do the downey dunk and it helped some but her hair was too far gone. AG actually recommended that I do the downey dunk. Her hair was so bad that it was almost dreadlocks and I could brush it but her hair was falling out in little knots and just breaking off. If you want to keep her hair I think the best thing to do is after the downey dunk is brush it carefully starting at the ends and one section at a time. Then braid it and leave it like that. Good luck with it and keep us posted on her progress.

I've found that spritting Addy's hair liberally really helps. Separate into very small sections and sprit the section until it is pretty wet and start brushing from the bottom.

Here is how to deal with Addy's hair-
1) spritz with lots of water
2) divide her hair into small sections
3) spritz again
4) starting from the TOP with your fingers or the AG hair picks, gently untwist the knots a few strands at a time spritzing as her hair dries
5) repeat step 4 until her whole head of hair is unknotted
6) spritz again
7) brush with AG hair brush in small sections from BOTTOM to the top
She will shed a lot of hair but that is normal. It takes several hours and lots of patience to do her hair but it's so much fun to play with!

I did the same thing as poohbear did by running my fingers through Addy's hair before I picked it out. It just fell out every time I touched it and I thought this was to be expected but it's not. My new Addy has the softest hair and you can do anything with it. Hopefully AGMommy won't have this same problem with her dolly.
